| Christmas Foster Scheme - Foster A Dog Today |
Thinking of Becoming a Foster Parent?
Manchester & Cheshire Dogs' Home is appealing to all Greater Manchester dog lovers to take home a furry friend for Christmas.
Fostering is an excellent way for people that may not be completely sure about dog ownership or that have circumstances in their life that may not allow any dog to enter their home, (cats/children)
The Dogs' Homes, based in Harpurhey and Cheshire, look after hundreds of dogs that if left unfostered, will remain in the kennels throughout the festive period and unable to enjoy the comfort of a home environment.
Lisa Graham, manager of Manchester Dogs' Home, says: “Most of the dogs available for adoption are older and have been in the kennels for a while. This means many of these dogs have never really spent any time enjoying Christmas in the surroundings of a caring home or family and they'll require lots of love and attention. “Fostering is also a good idea for people who are thinking of getting a dog. It allows them to experience what it's like to own and care for one, almost like ‘trying before you buy'.”
Fostering allows a family to experience the joys of dog ownership without making a life long commitment at the time. Many of the
families that foster dogs go on to adopt their new best friends where as other fosterers offer us their experience of dog ownership by taking an abandoned dog in to their home and providing us with information about the dogs behaviours and habits in a home environment.
There are often a wide range of dogs available for fostering and this is highlighted on the dogs kennel paperwork. Before you can go home with your foster dog, we need to meet your entire family and any other dogs that live in the home. In addition to this we also ask that you bring with you identification and proof of your current address.
**If you are interested in fostering a dog over the Christmas Period please visit us during our opening times of 1.00pm - 5.00pm Monday - Saturday and 1.00pm - 4.00pm on Sundays and speak to a member of our dedicated kennel staff, who will be able to show you which dogs are available to Foster.
Thank you for your interest in our Christmas Foster Scheme. |
