JAMES BOND-THEMED EVENING AT
HIGH LEGH COUNTRY CLUB, CHESHIRE
The county’s ‘dogerati’ turned out in force on the evening on Saturday 6th March to support Cheshire and Manchester Dogs’ Homes at their first-ever fund-raising dinner. The glittering event, held at High Legh Country Club near Knutsford, saw over 100 of the Home’s staff, volunteers and supporters dress up for a ‘James Bond’-themed event. VIP guests included Dogs’ Home patron, actor Jason Done of Band of Brothers and Waterloo Road fame.
The evening was a great success and highlights of the night included a three course sit down meal, a roulette and blackjack table and entertainment from local young singer Lindsay Smith, with all proceeds going towards the care of the 100 dogs that are housed at Cheshire Dogs’ Home at any one time.
Thanks to Justin Quinn of ML Events, Jackie Daley of Unity Events, Derek and all of the staff at High Legh Park Country Club, Becky Chadwick, Millenium Studios, Tony and Tony at Oculus Studios, The Chetwode Arms, The Springbrook, Warrington Wolves RLFC, Crocky Trail, Lymm Ladies’ Circle, Alpine Tool Hire, David Jones, Presto Music and MCDH staff and volunteers.

FUN DOG SHOW
AT MYPETSTOP
SUNDAY 7TH FEBRUARY 2010
Manchester Dogs’ Home took over MyPetStop in Denton once more with their annual Fun Dog Show. Our judge June Herring had her work cut out, eyeing the talents of over 100 dogs and their eager owners who entered the show.
A wonderful variety of breeds were on display - from a Neopolitan Mastiff (winner of the Most Handsome Boy) through to a 4 months old Chinese Sharpei. This time we had a new class entitled the Dog Most Like Their Owner drew a great crowd of spectators and much effort was made by dogs and owners alike, with a brave entry in the cutest puppy event, along with forty other competitors. Alas, much to the disappointment of all, the judge overlooked our Home mascot in favour of a slightly smaller, cuter contestant. First prize went to Rebecca Thompson with Jasper.
It was great to see old friends and former residents of the Dogs’ Home and MCDH staff were especially delighted to see sweet Sidney, who was adopted last year by one of our volunteers.
There were plenty of tempting prizes in our raffle, with a signed MCFC football on offer for the lucky winner. In addition to this, the Tombola was also a popular stall with beauty products and a wide range of delicious chocolates and doggy merchandise.
Russ Gillott, one of our volunteers enjoyed brisk trade with his fantastic face-painting skills with children and adults alike queueing up to look like their favourite wild animal or even their own pet!
A big thank you to June and Kay for their judging skills and to Josie Jackson, Chairperson of MCDH and 2Point4Pets who kindly supplied the prizes for the lucky Show winners.
And thanks to all of the volunteers, visitors and loyal MCDH customers who attended. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
