Our charity work
Our work with Support Adoption for Pets last year helped us raise over £6,000.
Again, this year we have been given an opportunity to work with Pets at Home and Support Adoption for Pets. We are partnered with both Trafford and Ashton Stores.
Keep an eye on the website and Facebook for when we will be in store and maybe pop down and see us.
Dog of the month
Bully is a male, American Bulldog Cross, he is approx. 4 Years old.
Bully came into our care as a stray.
He is good around other dogs he would benefit from lead work as he is very strong on the lead. Bully is a character and knows what he wants! He will need ongoing socialisation and needs to be taught some manners! He gets his own way far too often and has the staff wrapped around his paw!!!!
Bully’s ideal home would be one the children are aged 14 years and over.

The dogs we receive from the wardens are usually picked up off the streets and if not claimed by the owners, then we have the task of finding them nice new homes.
As you can imagine, some of these animals may have been mistreated or neglected. Some come in underweight or sick as the owners may not have been able to afford to feed or medicate them, and others may be victims of pure neglect.
One particular boy called Kaiser – a beautiful Siberian husky – came into us in a very poor state. When he arrived he was very underweight and terrified. Having gone from living on the streets to being loaded into a van and then into more unfamiliar surroundings had not been a very pleasant experience for him.
After being assessed by the vet he was settled into a kennel for the night with a nice bowl of food and a comfy bed, but in the morning the food was still there largely untouched. So began the mystery as to why he was so timid and not keen to eat his nom noms.
Most of the staff and volunteers fell in love with this lovable rogue and I would have taken him home with me willingly if I could, but someone else beat me to it. After an initial period of fostering Kaiser worked his magic and was permanently adopted into a new pack of dogs – huskies like himself – and has such a wonderful life.
It has now been discovered that he has epilepsy, which would explain why he was so timid and possibly why his previous owners had abandoned him – long term medical conditions like this can be costly to treat, perhaps this is why he was neglected in the first place but is certainly no excuse. He takes daily medication and is having the best time in his new home, sometimes all it takes is a little love!
